The Chögyam Trungpa Center
- The Chögyam Trungpa Center in Fort Collins, Colorado was founded ten years ago by Fred H. Meyer, MD . The center hosts daily sitting, as well as group retreats every three months. Over the years, Dr. Meyer has presented many Buddhist and Shambhala teachings, such as: Taming the Mind, Mindfulness and Awareness Practice, The Great Eastern Sun, and Ayatanas in Shambhala.
- The center hosts a discussion group every Wednesday night, which Dr. Meyer moderates. The weekly schedule is: sitting meditation at 7:00 PM (Mountain time), followed by Dharma discussion at 7:30 PM. During Dharma discussion, group members take turns reading excerpts from a Dharma book, which are then used as the basis for group discussion. Each group meeting concludes with tea and informal conversation. The group includes beginning meditators as well as those with many years of experience. This is a pleasant, informal way to learn about the Dharma and to share your understanding of it on a weekly basis, as well as to receive hints about how to progress on the spiritual path. Meditation instruction is also offered for both beginners and more advanced practitioners who would like to discuss their meditation experience.
- Our group members join us in person and also by Skype from various parts of the United States. For questions about joining the group, email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Dr. Meyer also does presentations suitable for Zen, Tibetan Buddhist, and Shambhala/Buddhist groups. If you would like him to teach at your center, email: email@example.com under the subject: Dr. Meyer Teaching.
